"In the spring of 1885, Frank S. and Lucy Ann Ainsworth boarded the train for Cheyenne where they purchased a team and wagon with double side boards, a camp outfit and headed for their new home on Crooked Creek by way of Douglas, Ft. Fetterman, Ft. Casper, Arminto, Cottonwood Pass and Mohagany Buttes. When they arrived Charlie Bramer and Charlie Wells helped them put up a fence to protect the plants the couple had brought out from Iowa. They lived in a tent until fall, then built a dugout style barn and lived in it until they built a house. The oldest son, Frank, was born in that barn, December 1885." - adapted from "A History of Washakie County
