In 1916 Clair Barngrover left Billings, Montana to seek employment in Worland. He was employed by Mr. H.L. Clark on his farm. Later, after serving in the Army during World War I, Clair returned and married the boss's daughter. He continued to farm most of his life. Clair recalls buying steers from Sam Hyatt for .05 cents per pound during the 1930's. After retiring from farming, Clair moved to Worland and was the custodian at the Methodist Church for several years and later purchased the Blue Bird Laundry and operated the laundry until his retirement. - adapted from "A History of Washakie County"
