James and Dora Gifford came to Worland in 1916 where James worked as a master blacksmith and iron worker. He owned the J.O. Gifford blacksmith and Horseshoeing building which is now the Worland Fire Department. A line in his obituary read: "He was a man whom the community could ill afford to lose. His integrity was unquestionable and ideals high and back of all that has been been said he was fearless for the right. Doing betterment for Worland." - adapted from "A History of Washakie County"

George Gifford, brother to James Gifford, arrived in Worland in 1919 and his family followed in 1920. He began work at the Washakie Elevator and Milling Company and later became a city Marshall. He remodeled a house originally owned by Charlie Worland which was also the first hotel in Worland. - adapted from "A History of Washakie County"
